The story of Cesar Chavez: A life devoted to helping Farmworkers

Before Cesar Chavez, A union for farmworkers was impossible to start. A union is not about how strong one person is, it’s about how strong everyone together can be. Chavez always believed working together was better than working alone. Thousands of voices are louder than one voice itself. Even though farmworkers union had never worked before, Cesar Chavez’s Union Farm Workers brought everyone together to accomplish their goal of better working conditions.
Cesar was a farmworker and knew all the hard work they had to do in other to earn a few dollars. He did a great job explaining everything he wanted the people to know. He once said, “I suppose if I wanted to be fair I could say that I’m trying to settle a personal score”. In my opinion, he meant if someone tells you that you can’t do whatever is you should take as a challenge and make it happen.
We all know who Cesar Chavez is. All of his actions were always backed up by thousands of loyal farm works and people who always believed in him. In other words, he took over the enormous challenge of a labor union for farm workers and immigrants workers. Even though Chavez knew no one before had done such a thing he didn’t care and worked super hard to make it happen. He stated marches and foundations to help farm workers, For Example, the March from Delano to Sacramento. One day he came up with the idea of going to Sacramento and talking to the governors about the union. Meanwhile everyone was already thinking of gathering everyone and looking for a ride to Sacramento, Chavez came up with the idea of walking to Sacramento. Everyone thought he was crazy but it was a great way to showing their power. The march was one of the largest march in the history of the United States. In fact, the march started with 77 people and ended with thousands of people in Sacramento. The march lasted 25 days and it was 350 miles long. During the march Chavez would stop in different towns to ask more people to march with him. As soon as farm workers knew what was happening and saw that Chavez was planning they stopped working and joyed him in his journey. The number of people in the march kept on increasing every day.
In the Sixties, Cesar Chavez helped all farm workers; today, Dr. Ruiz helps all Hispanics. Even though Dr. Ruiz continues to help farm workers and Hispanic people, Cesar Chavez made history by changing their lives. For instance, Chavez walked long distance and protested for the rights of farm workers. Likewise, Dr. Ruiz creates clubs, programs and helps raise money for good causes. For example, he helps raising money for programs that help students stay in school and went to keep on studying. On March 17, 1966 Chavez began the famous “March to Sacramento”, The March started on March 17, 1966 and ended on Sunday April 10, 1966. They were to march for 25 days and cover 350 miles. However, Cesar would stop on every town to recruit people to walk with him and to let them spend the night there at their towns. Cesar was known for always caring and supporting farmworkers. In fact, when Cesar got back from the U.S military he dedicates almost all of his time to help farm workers get better benefits. Cesar Chavez accomplished all of his goals because he was smart and always did everything around other people and had them participate as well. On 1962 Cesar started leading the Union Farm Workers “UFW”. In fact, the union had already 10,278 members by 2013. Cesar Chavez would always be in our hearts and if he ever dies, Dr. Raul Ruiz would go in and revive his legacy. In other words, Dr. Ruiz could literally reach into your heart and fix whatever it’s wrong with it. Dr. Ruiz comes from a Hispanic family so it was hard for him to accomplish his goals. Just like Cesar Chavez, Dr. Ruiz did the impossible. Dr. Ruiz stepped up and got a good education with a good paying job. He wanted to prove that it doesn’t matter from where you are coming from as longest you put hard work and dedication to whatever you want to do you are going to get it done.
Back in the 1960s, farm workers were mistreated, forced to work long hours and got payed very low wages. Cesar Chavez a young boy with great dreams in that time saw all of those things so unfair. Even though he lived in the U.S and had the opportunity for a better life with a great education, he had to drop out of school when he was in the eighth grade. Chavez had to drop out of school because he had to help his family work in the fields. That was when he really got the experience of working in the fields. In other words he stated helping people from a young age, that’s what caught my interest.
